Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by mountains, ocean, beaches, and forested parks. It is also a culturally diverse city with a rich variety of ethnic and locally inspired cuisine. Vancouver was voted the "Best City in the Americas" for 2004, 2005 and 2006 by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, based on the categories of ambience, friendliness, culture and sites, restaurants, lodging, and shopping. Destinations in Vancouver
Granville Island Market
Underneath the Granville Street Bridge, Granville Island features an open market with fresh produce, baked goods, meats, and seafood. The rest of the island features local artisan shops such as ceramics, jewellery, clothing, fine woodwork, and more. Other major tenants of the island include Emily Carr College of Art + Design, Arts Club Theatre, and many restaurants and coffee shops.

Stanley Park
Stanley Park is Vancouver's first park. It is vast area of 400 hectares (1,000 acres) and is close to the heart of Vancouver's downtown core. Walk or run around the seawall which is about 5.5 miles (8.85 km) long, visit the Vancouver Aquarium, or just enjoy the many gardens in the park.

Robson Street
Robson Street is a major shopping centre in the heart of downtown Vancouver. This is the place to go for clothing and shoe stores for men and women! Includes well-known retailers such as BCBG Maxazria, Banana Republic, Roots, A/X Armani Exchange, American Outfitters, Guess, and the Gap.

Gastown
Historic Gastown was named after gold prospector and saloon keeper John "Gassy Jack" Deighton. The area has some of Vancouver's oldest buildings, original cobble streets, and features one of the city's biggest tourist attractions, the Gastown Steam Clock. Water Street is the main drag, with lots of gift shops, restaurants, and pubs.

Chinatown
Equally historic is Vancouver's large Chinatown, featuring won ton noodle restaurants, BBQ houses, gift shops, and the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
