JCDL 2005 Award Nominees and WinnersThe following papers were nominated for awards at this year's JCDL conference. Vannevar Bush Best Paper $1,000, sponsored by ACM, was given to the best paper presented at JCDL. All full papers accepted for presentation were eligible for consideration. Winner: Digital Libraries Support for the User's 'Information Journey' Other nominees: Annotating Illuminated Manuscripts: An Effective Tool for Research and Education On Assigning Place Names to Geography Related Web Pages Best Student Paper Award $500, sponsored by IEEE-CS Technical Committee on Digital Libraries, was awarded for the best full paper having a student as the first author. Winner: Meaningful Presentations of Photo Libraries: Rationale and Applications of Bi-LevelRadial Quantum Layouts Other nominees: A New Framework for Building Digital Library Collections What's There and What's Not? Focused Crawling for Missing Documents in Digital Libraries On Assigning Place Names to Geography Related Web Pages Best Poster Award $500, sponsored by the University of Arizona, was awarded to the poster that received the most votes from conference attendees.
